Adam Audio, studio monitoring from Berlin

Founded in 1999 in Berlin, Adam Audio quickly made a name for itself in the world of studio monitors, first with high‑end facilities and later with project studios and home studios worldwide. From the outset, the company stood out through the development of its ART/X‑ART pleated ribbon tweeters based on Oskar Heil’s Air Motion Transformer principle, delivering very high high‑frequency precision, extremely low distortion and a particularly stable stereo image. Today, Adam monitors are found in mix rooms, post‑production and broadcast studios as well as in producers’ and beatmakers’ home setups, including many customers equipped by AudioLight in Lot‑et‑Garonne.

The ART tweeter: a distinctive sonic signature

At the heart of Adam Audio’s identity is its pleated ribbon tweeter, known as ART and later X‑ART, now combined with HPS waveguides on the latest series. Unlike a traditional dome driver that moves in a piston‑like back‑and‑forth motion, the pleated diaphragm “squeezes” air laterally, moving up to four times more air than the folds themselves travel and achieving much higher air velocity with less mechanical excursion. The result is detailed yet non‑fatiguing highs, a strong sense of air and depth, a wide sweet spot and reduced listening fatigue during long mixing or sound‑design sessions. Combined with stiff woofer cones, optimised bass‑reflex enclosures and carefully tuned amplification, this technology gives Adam monitors a sonic character highly appreciated for electronic music, pop, rock and film work alike.

S, A, AX and T Series: from large studios to home setups

Over the years, Adam Audio has rolled out its know‑how across several lines: the flagship S and A Series for demanding mixing and mastering studios, with S‑ART/HPS tweeters and onboard DSP, the AX Series (A3X, A5X, A7X, A8X, etc.) that defined a generation of home studios, and the more recent T Series (T5V, T7V, T8V) designed to bring Adam’s ribbon tweeter sound to a much more affordable price point. All of them share the same philosophy: extended frequency response, precise stereo imaging, generous dynamics and rear‑panel tuning options (high/low shelving filters, and on A Series models, DSP‑based voicings and room correction via A Control) to adapt the speakers to the room and listening position. Many composers, beatmakers and mix engineers now use Adam monitors as their main reference, in stereo or multichannel setups, and AudioLight in Agen can help you choose, install and fine‑tune the right model for your studio.
